Comments & Reviews

When visitors leave comments on the site (such as a product review) we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help us detect spam.

Your email address is required when leaving a review so that we can detect genuine purchases. (That’s how reviews are labeled “verified owner”.) However, email addresses will not be published on the site or shown in your review.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your Gravatar profile picture (if available) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Note: we recommend using your first name and the first initial of your last name only in your site reviews. If you forget to do that, we’ll edit your last name (to show only the first initial) before posting your review publicly.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you submit a contact form on this website, we will have access to any information you entered on that form (name, email address, message), as well as to your IP address, which is collected automatically to deter spam.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Shopping

If you make a purchase on this site, you may do so as a “Guest” or you can create an account at that time. Through your purchase, we will have access to your name, email address, billing address and shipping address. At no time will we have access to or even see your credit card number. (Only our payment processor will have access to your credit card information as your purchase from this website is processed.) When we ship your order, we will have access to the shipping information and email address you entered when you placed your order. This information is stored securely. Again, no credit card information is ever seen or stored on our website.

Who we share your data with

We do not share our customers data with any other entity. We are not privy to your credit card information and never see your credit card numbers, nor will your number be stored on our website. If you choose to subscribe to our email news list, your first name and email address will be saved on MailChimp as part of our private email list management. MailChimp will not have access to or ever share your personal or credit card information.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have created an account on this site, you can request at any time that we delete your account and any information associated with it. (This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes, in the event you have made any purchases from this site.) Our email list messages always have an “unsubscribe” link at the bottom so you can easily opt-out at any time.
